SATANIC SLUTS 2: THE BLACK MASSES

Ultimately The Satanic Sluts 2: The Black Masses is a fascinating documentary that gives a thorough over of the eleven Black Mass shows... This progressive flagged transfer looks razor sharp throughout and colors look nicely saturated and vivid. (read more)
SATANIC SLUTS 2: THE BLACK MASSES

The first scene which “grabbed” me was when a bride (I think it was called “Pierced Bride”) took a syringe, drew blood from her arm, injected it into her beverage glass, and then proceeded to drink it. That was very unique and compelling...In conclusion, if you like beautiful, half-naked women performing in dark, exploitative fantasy scenes, then this will be your kind of DVD. (read more)
BLACK MAGIC RITES (Renato Polselli)

One positive about Rita Calderoni’s performance is that she spends an ample amount of time in various stages of undress. Black Magic Rites features a groovy score that was composed by Romolo Forlai and Gianfranco Reverberi who composed Renato Polselli’s Delirium. Ultimately Black Magic Rites is an entertaining mix of sleaze, sadism and mayhem.(read more)
BLACK MAGIC RITES (Renato Polselli)

Black Magic Rites is rife with spellbinding flashbacks to medieval sorcery and nude female sacrifices. Robust beauty Rita Calderoni dazzlingly embodies Isabella, a vampiric witch to whom modern worshippers make blood offerings before turning into succubus types themselves. Black Magic Rites will conjure the flames of the underworld in your pants. (read more)
FROG SONG (Shinji Imaoka)

Frog Song is an interesting, sensitive and thoughtful study of several deeply dysfunctional people, from the point of view of several deeply dysfunctional relationships, within what I believe the director is attempting to portray as an essentially dysfunctional contemporary culture.(read more)
NUDE FOR SATAN (Luigi Batzella)

With a salacious title like Nude for Satan and opening where the films lead actress Rita Calderoni wanders semi-nude through a fog shrouded forest it becomes quickly clear what type of film Nude for Satan is. This is an exploitative film that is knee deep in nudity, Satanism and lesbianism... Without a doubt the most memorable scene in Nude for Satan is a scene where Susan gets caught in a giant spider web and is terrorized by a large rubber spider.(read more)
SCHIZO (Peter Walker)

Schizo was directed by Pete Walker one of the UK’s most prominent horror directors during the 1970’s. The films of Pete Walker are known for their body counts and nudity. Schizo’s plot at times feel more like a by the numbers exercise in horror filmmaking. The plot features many elements like a shower scene that is loosely similar to the one in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and flashback sequences and a séance scene that bear many striking similarities to Dario Argento’s Deep Red....(read more)
KILLING CAR (Jean Rollin)

Watching Jean Rollin’s “Killing Car” I was immediately drawn to just how far removed this film was from his more classic era of filmmaking. He story is incoherent and the acting is putrid outside of the lead assassin played by Tiki Tsang while not flawless still holds her own in a silent like lead performance that is vaguely similar to that of Meiko Kaji’s performances in the Female Prisoner Series. The murder’s especially those gun inflicted are poorly done as gun shots sound more like fire crackers then lethal flesh piercing explosions of death. Visually director Jean Rollin shows signs of....(read more)
NATURE MORTE (Paul Burrows)

First time filmmaker Paul Burrows makes a strong impression with his feature film debut Nature Morte. Visually his style is a cross between Jess Franco erotica meets David Lynch‘s bizarre. On the surface the story’s plot has all the elements which make for a solid thriller. The films ample use of sexuality and nudity and often in violent and sadistic ways adds to what is already a very entertaining story. The films score composed by Steve Severin one of the founding members of the pink/new wave band Siouxsie and the Banshees. Severin’s score greatly adds to the overall mood of the film with its dark...(read more)
